
There's a couple ways I like to study for the dreaded fluid&electrolyte exam. I have to incorporate memorization AND application ways of studying.
So to start I crafted this chart to start:


So for me when I think of sodium I think salt. So I chose grey to help the words sink in a little more. Same with potassium.. I mean yellow-bananas of course! Calcium=milk so light blue.
That's all our professor had on the study guide so those are the only electrolytes I included in this.
ACID imbalances I think red, and ALKALOSIS I think blue!
Then I just added in some little doodles to help things stick in my head.
Part 2 of this is memorizing!
I could stare at this chart all day long and still not remember it all- so I make flash cards.
One card="hyponatremia causes" (causes then on the back)
Next card="hyponatremia S&S" (S&S listed on the back)
Same with all the other electrolytes and acid base!
